Sado Island, Sadogashima, is located in Niigata Prefecture which is in Hokuriku (Chubu) Region.
Sado Island is surrounded by the ocean and there are mountains, so cycling, camping and marine sports are popular. Also, there are many attractions that are unique and rarely experienced such as a “Tarai Bune” which is tub boats. If you are familiar with the Ghibli “Spirited Away”, you may have seen it.
Besides you can meet crested ibis (toki), which is an endangered species, at Toki Forest Park or if you are lucky you can see them in the wild on Sado Island.
