Tsumago Juku is a conservation township and selected as a “Important Preservation District Groups of Traditional Buildings” in 1976.  Located in Nagiso, Nagano Prefecture which is a part of the Chubu region.

It's really historical and it seems like you are time slipped to the Edo period.

The township is a post town and the Nakasendo route between Kyoto and Edo is the 42nd of the 69 routes from Edo.

The Tsumago people tried to preserve the township by making a rule which is “not selling , not rentaling, not destroying” their houses and land so even now the Tsumago as it is.

You can experience historical and traditional ambience by staying, eating, shopping, and walking through there. It must be enjoyable and amazing!

☀ For your reference,

There is a trail between Tsumago Juku and Magome Juku. It’s about 9 km and takes about 3 hours by walk.

You should try a trail when visiting Tsumago or Magome and hope you enjoy the scenery while walking!
