Kunenan Gardens Kunenan Gardens

Kunenan is a Japanese style garden which is known for its beautiful autumn foliage, and located in Saga Prefecture. The villa / garden is 68,000 square meters and was built by Bunemon Itami and Yatari Itami, son of Bunemon. Yataro Itami took over 9 years to build a garden and tearoom. Therefore, it is called Kunenan, a nine-year house. It was designated as a natural treasure in Japan in 1995.

The garden is only open twice a year, 3 days for spring and 9 days for autumn. During the opening for Kyunenan, a shuttle bus runs from Yoshinogari Historical Park for free.

Good way to spend time in Saga is after enjoying nature in Kyunenan and going to Yoshinogari Historical Park and to feel the history of Japan!
