Takachiho Gorge is designated as a scenic beauty and a National Monument in Japan.

Located in Takachiho, Miyazaki Prefecture which is in the Kyushu Region.

There is a falls called Manai Big Falls and was chosen as one of the top 100 waterfalls in Japan. 17 meters in height and symbolizes Takachiho Gorge.

You can rent a boat, row by yourself and go closer to the falls. You can look up at the impressive falls and enjoy time between the beautiful gorge. Even if you do not take a boat, there is a footpath and you can see the falls from there. The footpath is known as a photo spot to take a picture of the falls and surrounding nature. Both ways to see the falls are incredible views.

Tips:
Highly recommend you reserve your boat from their website if you would like to try it. Since it is a very popular activity and if the day of the reservations is full, they won't sell a ticket for the day.

You can visit any time they open but if you have any chance you could go in the evening. You can see quite beautiful scenery in the evening.

If you plan to visit Japan in the summer and look somewhere cooler - summer in Japan is hot and humid! You should go to this place as a cooling spot during your stay in Japan!
