Looking for a unique experience in Japan? How about crossing the sea by bike?
With breathtaking scenery all around you, you can bike your way from the mainland of Honshu to Shikoku Island (or vice versa). A 60km (37 mile) road-and-bridge path runs from Onomichi in Hiroshima Prefecture to Imabari in Ehime Prefecture. It spans six small islands and six bridges, and offers bike and pedestrian lanes for the entire length.
The views of the Seto Inland Sea National Park from the path are simply incredible. With 14 cycle rental stations along the way, you can go at your own pace, stopping for a photo halfway across a bridge, and return your bike when you are done, just in time to catch a bus. If you get a flat tire, there's no problem, there are vending machines that sell replacement tubes and other cycling tools. If you are not confident going up hills by bike, you can rent electric bicycles at some rental stations.
The islands offer locally produced lemons, mandarins, and fresh seafood from the Seto Inland Sea to the visitors.
