The Sand Museum is an exhibition of sand sculpture every year that changes the theme. It will be open from April 19th, 2024 to January 5th, 2025. Located in Tottori Sand Dunes, Japan's best dunes, Tottori Prefecture which is in Chugoku Region.
Their concept is to travel abroad with sand and last year was Egypt. This year's exhibition's theme is France as the Olympics are being held in Paris this year. The picture’s theme is Southeast Asia and was created by Iliya Filimontsev in 2013-2014.
The Museum itself is small but once you come into it, you will be impressed by sand sculptures as the sand sculptures are very delicate and the quality is amazing. The sand sculptures are only made with water and sand so there may be a risk of collapse while they are being created. The process is to spend time and energy to create but they revert to sand after the exhibition. There is beauty in fleeting as not forever thing.
If you visit Tottori Sand Dunes highly recommended for anyone interested in arts or not!
