If you enjoy Studio Ghibli animations, such as My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away, Ghibli Museum is the perfect place to visit!
Highlight 1: Characters
Upon entering Studio Ghibli, you will spot a life size Totoro from My Neighbor Totoro. The Cat Bus from the movie can be seen on the second floor, and children are able to ride the bus. In the rooftop garden you will find a 5-meter-tall (16ft) robot soldier from Castle in the Sky! You’ll feel like you are in a movie.
Highlight 2: Permanent exhibit “Where a Film is Born”
You will learn the animated movie making process, and the structure of pictures that move energetically. The passion of the filmmakers will move you.
Highlight 3: Special exhibitions “Sketch, Flash, Spark!”
This limited-edition exhibit started on November 16th has director Hayao Miyazaki explaining the work behind the museum’s creation with pictures.
Highlight 4: The Saturn Theater
This small theater within the museum, shows animated short films. Changing every month, the films shown are exclusive to Studio Ghibli.
Highlight 5: Café “Mugiwara Boshi”
This café provides dishes made of fresh ingredients from organic farms. The concept is to provide customers with heartfelt homemade dishes that are made by parents on children’s birthday.
Don’t forget to get your ticket and reserve the date and time before you go to Ghibli Museum. Same day tickets are not available.

To JR Mitaka Station, take the JR Chuo Line, approximately 20 min from JR Station. From the south exit of JR Mikata Station, it’s a 15 min walk to the Museum.
