Noodles are a staple of Japanese cuisine and there are many types of noodles. The most popular noodles are udon, soba, and ramen. Also there are a variety of styles from simple to unique. Nowadays, you can eat noodles at restaurants or you can find instant noodles at stores. If you are a noodle lover, how lucky you are!
We are going to share three types of noodles!
1. Ramen
Ramen is really popular in Japan and all over the world. Ramen originated in China.
There are 4 types of main broth which are shoyu (soy sauce), shio (salt), miso (fermented soybean paste), and tonkotsu (pork bone). The photo is of shio ramen.
You can see the common toppings which are char siu (pork shoulder and cheeks), menma (seasoned bamboo shoots), egg (seasoned boiled egg), chopped scallions, nori (dried seaweed sheets).
2. Udon
Udon has a chewy texture and is primarily made from wheat flour.
The best way to enjoy udon is eating it as it is with dashi-based broth, but there are more popular udon and one of those is the photo of curry udon.
Udon noodle’s taste is really simple so curry goes well with it.
3. Soba
Soba is primarily made from buckwheat flour.
The most common soba is zaru soba which is cold soba with soy sauce-based sauce.
There are many common toppings: chopped scallions, shredded nori, wasabi, sesame seeds. You can enjoy zaru soba with the toppings you like.
