Formerly destroyed during World War II, Hiroshima is now a thriving modern city with a population of over one million people. Having rebuilt the city in the past 75 years, there are sites that commemorate what was once there.

Just outside of Hiroshima is Miyajima, best known for its UNESCO World Heritage Site, Itsukushima. Located right on the water, the shrine has the appearance that it is floating!
