[Iwate] Nanshoso

Nanshoso was built in 1885 as a residence. It opened to the public in 2000 and is loved by locals, not only domestic but also international tourists. Located in Morioka city, Iwate Prefecture which is in Tohoku Region.
It has a beautiful garden which is the Chisen Kaiyu style garden, protected by Morioka City and also structures of cityscape importance.
It is a great place to take a break and spend an unusual day there. You can feel at ease when you go there, and also you can feel history and as time goes by. There are small places but you can grab a cup of coffee or tea with Japanese sweets.
Highly recommended season is autumn since you can see the beautiful autumn leaves inside.
