Shoju-in temple was built 800 years ago. It is known as Furin-Ji which is why there are many furin hanging.

Located in Ujitawara, Kyoto Prefecture which is in the Kinki region.

What is Furin?
— Furin is wind chime. People enjoy the shapes and sounds of furin for cooling down the hotter day as it feels cool with all five of your senses. Long time ago, furin was for protecting against misfortune so furin hangs in many temples as for now.

In Summer, there are over 2,000 Furin hangings and they hold a Furin festival every year. This year is starting from June 1st to September 18th. They hang Furin from all over Japan to make the people feel even cooler. You can enjoy many kinds and sounds of furin there one time.

Shoju-in is also famous for the heart-shaped window (Inome-window). The seasonal nature view through the window and the window color change by the seasons of color. You should also check flower-ceiling when you enter the room. There are 160 pictures of flowers and scenery.

That gives a true Japanese atmosphere.
