[Ehime] Dogo Onsen

Dogo Onsen, a hot spring, is located in Ehime Prefecture. It is one of the popular attractions in Ehime and famous for having the oldest hot springs in Japan. There are 3 baths which are the Main building, Tsubaki-no-Yu, and Asuka-no-Yu.

Dogo Onsen 

Main Building: 
The Main Building has over 3000 years of history, and the Main Dogo Onsen building is the oldest symbol in Japan. It was designated as a national important cultural property in December 1994 as the first public bath. You can feel the history of bathing.

 

Dogo Onsen 

Tsubaki-no-Yu:
Tsubaki-no-Yu is loved by local people since the bath has a lot of open space to relax. If you want to enjoy bathing very simply, Tsubaki-no-Yu is a good option.

 

Dogo Onsen 

Asuka-no-Yu:
Asaka-no-Yu is like an art museum since it is decorated with a beautiful local craft inside and bathed. You can enjoy art as well as hot springs.

There are many specialities of Ehime food and souvenir shops around Dogo onsen so you can enjoy walking around. One of the specialties is Botchan Dango, a sweet rice dumpling.
